My teenage son drives a very old car that we expect is going to die soon, but he's driving it until it takes its last breath. It started having some brake issues, among other things, that we weren't sure would be worth the expense of fixing. These guys did a thorough inspection and told me exactly what we were looking at that needed to be fixed to keep it safely on the road a little while longer. No pressure to do more work than necessary - just straight up information and a little advice about how much we should reasonably spend on this old car. We moved ahead with the brake repair and he told us how to manage the other issues that weren't vital for safety. I feel like he was honest and fair even though his recommendation decreased how much he could bill us. After 20 years bouncing around Provo to different mechanics, I think we found one we'll stick with.
